Overview
Locale: Old Shot Tower in Dubuque, Iowa French explorers who had assumed that he lands along the Mississippi were wealthy only in furs discovered, late in the eighteenth century that mineral resources were also abundant. Julien Dubuque was the first white man to exploit the Lead resources west of the Great River through legal contracts with the Indians and Spanish government.
