It’s the season opener of barbecue competitions in Mobile, Ala. Over 90 teams have come out with their secret rubs, sauces and tricked out smokers to compete for their share of $20,000 in prize money. Many of these teams are now old friends because they compete against each other contest after contest. But this is their first competition of the year.
