Mike thinks that the bigger his band is, the more knightly the music they play will be. But as he continues to add players, he doesn't leave any time to rehearse. He learns that to play well together, a band needs to practise.

Mike wants to be the only lookout - even if it means staying up all night. But when he falls asleep on the job, he learns that even knights need their naps.

When Trollee is better than Mike at target practice, Mike's sure his trebuchet must be the reason. But the improvements to his equipment make no difference and he realises it's Trollee's practising that has led to success.

Mike is training a bird to run errands for him and Squirt decides that he too should be able to deliver messages far away. He learns that it's okay to tell people if you are not yet ready to do something.
