Season 1

Ted Ligety: The Average Olympian One of Ted Ligety’s coaches remembers an average kid who “wasn’t that fast.” A childhood friend remembers moments of brilliance. Neither could see the skier who would eventually win Olympic gold and redefine giant slalom. The Unexpected Champion returns Ligety to the people, places, pressures, failures and changes that shaped him before the ending made his story look inevitable. Not to ask why nobody saw the champion sooner. To ask how the champion became possible.
