Despite a 2016 campaign focused on domestic politics, Donald Trump is involved in Afghanistan: after sending reinforcements to the armies in 2017, then concluding a ceasefire in 2018, the American president begins negotiations with the Taliban and organizes the signing of the Doha agreements, on February 29, 2020, which requires the release of 5,000 Taliban prisoners.
