The first episode discusses the "development of Taiwan's animation industry from scratch" in the 1970s, learning from experience by doing OEM work for the US and Japan while also exploring the path of original animation production.
The second episode explores the 1980s, a time of "crossroads between original production and OEM production." Taiwan's OEM animation industry reached its peak, dominating American television cartoon programming.
The third episode describes the 1990s, a period of "self-awakening amidst industrial relocation." Considerations of labor costs led the animation industry to expand westward to mainland China, ironically fostering a trend of original animation based on "international collaboration." With full support from the government and public television, the concept of "Taiwanese originals, but not necessarily made in Taiwan" became a prominent academic topic.
The fourth episode is about "crisis and opportunity in international competition" in the 21st century. The global animation industry is fiercely competitive, and the development of 3D technology, games, the Internet and products has brought unprecedented impact and business opportunities to the Taiwanese animation industry.
