Season 48

Violet complains of a pain in her shoulder at work, and later collapses; Jamie is desperate to know who told Danny of the split with Frankie; and Jason begins to have second thoughts about Holly's future.

Violet is rushed to hospital; Jason is forced to call Sarah for help when Holly won't stop crying; while Janice's temperature rises when plumber Roger turns up to fix her heating. Meanwhile, Liam is infuriated by a phone call from Danny announcing he has sold his share of the factory.

A devastated Violet discovers she may never be able to have children; and Jason resolves to take fatherhood more seriously - though his change of heart could have more to do with Sarah than Holly.

Carla sneakily attempts to get her business off the ground by offering Kelly extra money to make up some samples - but Liam and Paul are displeased by her staff-poaching antics; Eileen is disappointed when Jason shows no inclination to care for Holly permanently; Tracy plays on Deirdre's suspicions by claiming to have a head injury; and Roger asks a surprised Janice to accompany him on a trip to France.

Michelle gets the upper hand when Steve tries to sabotage her date with Sonny; Ken and Deirdre hope Peter's visit will put a stop to Charlie's behaviour, unaware that Tracy's taking them all for a ride; Janice decides to accompany Roger to France; and Sarah looks to the future.

Peter Barlow is back on the Street and angered by news that Charlie's mistreating Tracy - though a case is mistaken identity means that he's the one in danger; Liam is irritated by Carla's use of his office and staff; and Jason palms off his babysitting duties on Violet.

Deirdre and Ken come running as Peter's left unconscious by a furious Charlie, and when the police arrive Tracy gets the chance to turn the whole situation to her advantage; the quiz begins at the Rovers, with Roy and Norris taking the contest rather seriously.

Charlie comes home after a night in the cells and tells Tracy he wants her out - prompting her to reveal what she's been plotting. Liam is dismayed when Carla sets herself up as a permanent fixture in Underworld; and Steve realises he can't compete with Sonny.

Ken persuades Deirdre not to interfere in their daughter's life - a decision he may come to regret as Tracy teeters on the brink of completing her grand plan. Becky turns up late at the café after spending the night with new man Rob, leaving Roy and Hayley concerned about her casual attitude to sex.

With the whole Street believing Charlie is physically abusing Tracy, Ken and Deirdre call at No 6 to get the truth from their daughter - and are disturbed when she doesn't answer the door. As matters come to a head, Peter enters the house to discover a blood-soaked scene.

Tracy is bailed after being questioned by the police, and visits Charlie as he lies in intensive care. Kelly spoils Becky's romantic chances with Rob.

Claire and Gail share their views with the police, painting Charlie as a vicious bully; Maria and Jason visit the builder in hospital; and Bill returns to the Street.

The police break the news of Charlie's death to Tracy and reveal they have new evidence that requires them to question her again; Bill tells the Websters his marriage is over and pays a visit to Audrey (this plot point did not appear in the episode); and Michelle's cosy date with Sonny is rudely interrupted by Paul and Carla.

Jason threatens to thwart Tracy's careful plans by telling the police exactly what she's capable of, while the femme fatale makes her first court appearance and is refused bail. Fiz decides it would be best course for Chesney to move in with her until Les gets himself straightened out.

Ken and Deirdre visit Tracy in prison - where she has both of them convinced she's the victim of an injustice; Les is saddened to see Chesney move in with Fiz; Sarah gives Jason a hand with looking after Holly; and Carla's antics don't go down well with Liam.

As Deirdre pressures Ken to get the money to pay for Tracy's solicitor, he decides to take the drastic action of taking out a remortgage. Peter finds a distraction from his family's concerns in the shape of Maria; Fiz tells Les he has to make a real effort before she'll let Chesney move back in; and when Paul tackles Carla about her use of his staff, she puts a proposition to him.

Cilla returns from her holiday but receives a frosty reception from the residents; and Chesney makes matters worse by running away. The Barlows don't feel up to celebrating Blanche's birthday; Norris finds a way of tracking down old school chums; and Jason struggles with being a working dad.

The police tell Jason they are ready to release Charlie's body, prompting him to ask the Barlows if they will organise the funeral. The search for Chesney continues; Kelly misinterprets a flirtatious signal from Liam; and Michelle helps Steve get to grips with his parenting duties.

The Barlows commiserate with Tracy as she spends her 30th birthday in the cells, while Jason plans Charlie's funeral. David makes the most of Maria's vulnerable state; and Cilla accuses Fiz of brainwashing Chesney. Norris's internet hobby gives Rita an idea - tracing members of her former dance troupe.

Tracy is allowed out of prison long enough to attend Charlie's funeral, where friends of the builder give her the cold shoulder and Jason struggles to give a eulogy to his boss; David misreads Maria's behaviour and tries to kiss her; and Paul stands Carla up on their anniversary in favour of a business meeting.

David is hurt by Maria's rejection and gets revenge by telling everyone Charlie tried to drown him - before making an outrageous claim to the police. Kelly thinks love is in the air when she joins the Connors for drinks; while Les tries to talk Chesney into coming home.

Tracy is released on bail and returns to the Street, where she hears about David's claims - prompting her to wonder what he actually saw. Meanwhile, Liam makes a move on Joanne; Cilla and Les appear to have blown their chances with Chesney; and Roy discovers a stash of valuable comics.

As the police question Maria about Charlie's violent manner, Tracy realises David is lying and could be used to her advantage. Jason attempts to step into his late boss's work boots when a client asks him to renovate the bakery; and Roy realises that Becky has taken his comics to the car-boot sale.

David proves Tracy's not the only wicked one on the Street when he spots an opportunity for blackmail; Cilla and Fiz battle over Chesney; Slug returns to Becky's life and Sean is miffed at missing out on a chance to see Sonny.

Slug continues to be a bad influence on Becky and suggests they 'borrow' the Croppers' new car; Tracy drowns her sorrows in the Rovers, angry that David has got her right where he wants her; Jason promises Sarah a birthday meal; and Joanne is tempted even further into an affair with Liam.

The Croppers' stolen car is located, and Becky's involvement in the theft is revealed. Meanwhile, Ken is outraged with Tracy after she stays out all night.

Michelle introduces Sonny to Sean - who is astonished to discover the man he knows as Sondip has a double life. Cilla has to face the impact of her lies when she's called to Chesney's school; and a friend of Rita's arrives on the Street, leaving Norris feeling put out.

Sean confronts Sonny, who tells him Michelle doesn't need to know about his past relationships - or sexuality. Upset by all the lies, the barman confides in Steve. Fiz is sympathetic as Cilla admits to being a bad parent; and Tracy turns to an old flame when she needs a shoulder to cry on.

Blanche interferes in Tracy's love life, inadvertently leading her granddaughter into a romantic encounter with Steve; Sean warns Sonny he intends to tell Michelle everything; and Kelly remains oblivious to Joanne's relationship with Liam, convinced she's the one who has caught his eye.

Kelly learns what Joanne has been up to with Liam, and in a jealous rage demands that Paul sack her; Blanche is concerned when Tracy invites Steve to Amy's birthday party, worried that her granddaughter is up to her old tricks; Fiz confronts Cilla over money matters; and Jason gets a helping hand.

Tracy and Steve celebrate Amy's birthday and the event brings them closer. Fiz tires of forking out for Chesney's food while Cilla fritters cash on slot machines, and heads to her mum's house to help herself to the contents of the cupboard. Jodie praises Bill's work as he assists Jason.

Jason grumbles when Eileen tells him to start caring for Holly full-time, but panics when the infant goes missing; and Steve tells Tracy their night together was a one-off, while revelling in Michelle's reaction.

Jason tells Violet he's not cut out to be a dad - before picking up the phone to call Social Services; and Carla is cross at Paul's lack of interest in her business.

Eileen is furious to hear a complaint has been made to Social Services about Holly's care; Sarah is vexed to discover that Jason hasn't given a thought to Valentine's Day; Fiz realises she may not be able to compete with Cilla; Norris gets a surprise; and Becky begins work on a gift for the Croppers.

Becky's attempts to apologise to the Croppers fall on deaf ears, and she becomes chief suspect when smoke is later seen pouring from the cafe. Eileen makes a tough decision about Holly; and Norris's detective work leads him to believe his secret admirer is none other than Sally Webster.

Becky is released from police custody to find the whole Street blaming her for the fire at Roy's Rolls, and begs Hayley to believe her protestations of innocence; Chesney enjoys being spoilt by Cilla; and Carla receives good news about the Trendy Tots order.

David meets Tracy's solicitor, and persuades her that he could be a key witness. Liz urges Steve to finish things with Tracy, but he ends up digging himself a deeper hole by trying to make Michelle jealous.

Tracy begs David to testify on her behalf - prompting the wily teenager to make a skin-crawling suggestion; Hayley tries to get in touch with Becky; and Ashley explores his feminine side to help Claire's project.

Fed up with feeling tethered to the women in his life, Steve organises a night out with the lads; the Barlows are shocked to learn that Tracy is not entitled to legal aid; and Hayley discovers Becky in a run-down hostel.

Steve goes on a night on the tiles with Lloyd and Sean - and catches Sonny in a compromising position. Tyrone struggles to contain his curiosity over an object in a customer's car; and a lustful David continues to pester Tracy.

Steve revels in knowing Sonny's secret and doesn't miss the chance to make his rival feel uncomfortable. Sean confides in Jamie, unable to keep his love interest's identity to himself; Becky and Carla reach an agreement; and Rita brushes off Norris's party in favour of an evening with Doreen.

Chesney's efforts with Tyrone's metal detector unearth an explosive device in the Peacocks' garden.

Sean is forced to lie to his friends as Sonny tells him they must keep their affair secret; Tracy confides with Steve when the situation with David gets too much; Jason returns from town bearing gifts for Holly and Beth; Tyrone considers disposing of the metal detector; and Paul congratulates Carla.

Eileen is impressed by Jason's efforts to be a good dad to Holly; Claire gives Ashley cause for concern when she meets up with a girl she has been counselling; and Michelle fears Sonny is planning to end their relationship.

Steve hears Sonny has proposed to Michelle, and can't help but blurt out the truth about the businessman in front of a disbelieving crowd at the Rovers. A rift develops between the day and night shifts at Underworld; and cab driver Jamie is astonished to find his latest fare is none other than old flame Leanne.

Finding it difficult to get Steve's accusations out of her head, Michelle confronts Sean and demands the truth about his relationship with Sonny. Leanne impresses the Battersby-Brown clan with her tales of success in the property market and finds that romance could be on the cards with Jamie.

Tracy issues David with a violent warning when he goes a step too far; and Sean's resolve to keep his mouth shut begins to fail when he is quizzed by Liam and Paul.

Michelle is devastated when Sonny's deception is revealed, and tells him the wedding is off; Tracy agrees to meet David for a private encounter; and Liam gets a warning from Jamie about flirting with Leanne.

Jason is suspicious when he sees Tracy entering Charlie's flat with David; spurned by Michelle, Sonny asks Sean to make a go of their relationship; and the Underworld girls make fun of new recruit Vicki.

Sarah is stunned by CCTV footage showing David with Tracy, and demands answers from him; Ryan takes drastic action upon learning the truth behind his mum's break-up with Sonny; and Liz meets a new man.

Deirdre confronts Tracy about the nature of her relationship with David. Carla suspects Liam and Paul are hiding something; while Sean tells Sonny they cannot be together.

Paul sacks Sean for boasting and causing the workforce to go on strike just as Liam is preparing for a meeting with potential buyers; Janice returns from France; and the Barlows attend Tracy's plea hearing.

Liam reinstates Sean to end the strike after a disastrous business meeting; Carla continues to fret about Paul's behaviour before discovering the terrible secret her husband has been hiding for years; Peter is astonished at Tracy's confident attitude to her future; and Janice and Leanne catch up on the gossip.

Tracy whines about her barrister, making Deirdre realise she doesn't believe her daughter's version of Charlie's last hours; Liam and Carla fear for Paul's safety when he doesn't return to the Street; and Derek asks Liz on a date, only to get dropped in favour of Vernon.

Deirdre investigates Tracy's story further and is disturbed to find more evidence suggesting her daughter is lying. Carla is relieved when Paul returns and assures him she won't reveal his secret to Michelle - as long as he's truthful with her from now on.

The Morton clan, led by patriarch Jerry arrive on the Street, bringing a truckful of belongings. Deirdre tries to find out what Claire really knows about Tracy and Charlie; and Janice gets her old job back.

Janice visits the hotel where Leanne is supposed to be attending a property exhibition - but finds her getting up to something quite different.

Janice confronts Leanne about the real nature of her job, and is so appalled by her stepdaughter's response that she throws her out of the house. Peter's flirting wins Maria over; while Steve and Dev can't contain their glee when Paul proves to be a poor golfer.

Tracy tries to attack Maria after seeing her leaving Peter's flat - dragging Deirdre into the conflict; Janice goes to extreme lengths to stop Leanne working as an escort; Derek asks Liz on another date; and Roy puts on a brave face when the new takeway proves popular.

Ken suggests the impending trial will be too much for Deirdre and recommends she doesn't take the stand, putting the whole court case in jeopardy. Janice agrees to disagree with Leanne over her choice of career; and hustler Grandad Morton teaches Kayleigh a thing or two about pulling off a scam.

It's the eve of the trial and Deirdre is determined to get to the bottom of Tracy's story. The pair face up to bitter recriminations and years of buried anger - with the truth about Charlie's death providing a spectacular finale.

The day of the trial dawns, bringing fresh challenges for the beleaguered Barlows. Ken hears the truth about Charlie's death and confronts his lying daughter, while Blanche begins to realise all is not as it seems. Meanwhile, Liam harbours a secret, and Molly teases Dev about Tracy.

Jason takes the stand for the prosecution as the trial gets under way, before Maria is given a chance to have her say. Deirdre contemplates lying under oath, while a forensic expert gives damning evidence against Tracy. Claire looks to Casey for support; and Jerry arranges for Kayleigh to live with her mother.

Tracy is horrified to learn that Deirdre has refused to lie for her in court and attempts to manipulate her mother into changing her mind. A nervous Claire is next to take the stand, where she finds her mental health under scrutiny. Meanwhile, Jerry takes Kayleigh to live with her mother - who demands money for the youngster's upkeep.

David shares his version of events with the jury as Tracy's star witness, but his testimony isn't everything she hoped it would be - leaving Deirdre with a tough choice to make. More Polish workers join the factory staff, to Janice's annoyance; and Leanne forgives Liam for spoiling her property plans.

Claire leaves baby Freddie with Casey as Josh has an accident - but when she returns from the hospital, the pair are nowhere to be seen. Tracy comes to a decision about the future.

As the defence and prosecution teams deliver their closing speeches, Deirdre learns Tracy intends to leave Weatherfield whatever the outcome of the trial - making her fear she'll lose touch with Amy.

The verdict is announced and Tracy finds out whether her plan to paint herself as a victim of domestic abuse has been enough to convince a jury. Back on the Street, Sarah has news for Gail; and Liam's concerns over the state of No7 prompts him to buy Leanne's survey on the property.

The residents gossip about the outcome of the trial as Deirdre mulls over the events of the past few weeks; the Mortons start planning Mel and Darryl's 18th birthday party; over at Underworld Joanne has a confession for Hayley; and Vicki puts Janice in her place after tiring of her comments.

Immigration and police officials arrive at the factory following a tip-off, much to the excitement of Janice - who claims to be the whistleblower. Vernon's new career teaching aspiring drummers leads to tension; and Jerry frets about the situation between Kayleigh and her mother.

Deirdre visits Tracy for the first time since the trial and bids her daughter a tearful farewell; and the factory staff try to work out who tipped off the immigration authorities, prompting Janice to make a shock confession.

Holly's mother stuns Eileen with a revelation about the baby; Jerry grows concerned over the conditions at Kayleigh's mother's house; and Janice faces the factory workers' wrath over Joanne's plight.

Eileen struggles to come to terms with Emma's claims and wonders how to break the news to Jason; Jerry helps himself to Teresa's belongings as Kayleigh and Finlay move in with the Mortons; Audrey invests in the builder's yard; and Paul advises Steve to be patient with Michelle.

Jerry presents Mel and Darryl with a car as a joint 18th birthday present, before inviting the neighbours to a celebratory party; Eileen receives a call from her social worker and realises she can't put off telling Jason about Holly any longer; and Liz gives Vernon a warning.

Jason ponders Holly's future in light of Eileen's news and turns to Sarah for support; Gail suffers the consequences of over-indulging at the Morton's party; Liam worries that Carla is expecting too much of the factory workers; and Vernon proposes to Liz.

Vernon has too much to drink and inadvertently misses his dinner date with new fiancee Liz - who makes the most of it by asking Derek to join her. Emma arrives to collect Holly, but Eileen isn't ready to give up her granddaughter without a fight; and Adam tells Ken that Peter has offered him a job in Portsmouth.

Carla is relieved at the completion of her clothing order, but her jubilation comes to an abrupt end when a tragic accident befalls one of the workers at the factory; Derek's charms prove a temptation for Liz, who gracefully accepts Vernon's apology; and Sophie prepares for her school play audition.

The paramedics arrive at Underworld, and while Paul gives his fabricated story to the police, Carla tries to stop Vicki from telling anyone the real story; Jerry's ex-wife, Teresa, returns from holiday and heads round to the takeaway to demand her kids back; and Audrey suggests organising a party for Gail's 50th birthday.

Leanne is ejected from a hotel for soliciting and finds solace in the arms of Liam - who's upset over Kasia's death and the subsequent cover-up; Kevin's comments about Audrey looking for commitment prompt Bill to make a proposal; and Deirdre fears for the future as Adam prepares to head off to Portsmouth.

Jason is forced into action by Eileen's behaviour as she refuses to give baby Holly back to Emma; Leanne struggles to decide what she wants more - a relationship with Liam or the healthy income from her job; Maria feels cheated by Peter; and Deirdre and Ken face an uncertain future.

Claire tries to make Eileen see sense over the return of Holly; and Gail surprises Audrey as her family celebrate her '50th' birthday.

Gail suspects something is wrong as Eileen prepares to take drastic action to keep baby Holly; Paul tries to get the Underworld girls on side by organising a collection for Kasia's family; and Ken refuses to stay silent about Tracy's confession.

Gail attempts to persuade Eileen that running away with Holly is not a good idea, and Jason is surprised to realise how much he'd miss the baby; the Connors try to keep the truth about Kasia's death a secret by bribing Hayley and Sally; Liz arranges a night away with Derek as Vernon continues planning their wedding; and Claire is shocked to realise that Jerry's new shed is actually a chalet.

Eileen spends her final day with baby Holly and is devastated when social services arrive at the Grimshaw house to take her away; Liam demands reassurance from Paul that Carla won't be allowed to work at the factory again; Liz embarks on her secret liaison with Derek; and the tension between Deirdre and Ken worsens.

Deirdre admits she's blaming Ken for recent events; Carla is pleased to receive more orders for clothes, but her business plans look set to be thwarted by Paul and Liam; Jack's measly efforts to help around the house result in a nasty fall for Vera; and Liz tells Derek they mustn't arouse suspicions.

Michelle is left puzzled by Carla's comments about her brothers' behaviour, so she tackles both Liam and Paul; Chesney proudly shows off his costume for the school play; and Vera makes the most of being waited on by Molly.

Michelle decides to leave Weatherfield; Ken and Deirdre blame each other for Tracy's downfall; and a flirtatious Violet manages to get Gary's phone number.

Michelle is stunned after Steve makes a move on her, leaving to a tense evening behind the Rovers bar - until the pair decide to clear the air; Violet and Sean hit the town; and Emily lends a sympathetic ear to a demoralised Ken.

Ken's attempts to smooth things over with Deirdre by suggesting a holiday together go wrong when she threatens to walk out; and the Morton's neighbours aren't happy about Darryl living in the garden shed.

As Deirdre wakes up alone, Ken makes his way to visit an old flame, straight-talking hairdresser Denise, to spend some time with their son, Daniel, who he hasn't seen for more than 10 years. Upon his return, Deirdre is pleased to see him - until he reveals that he isn't planning to stay.

After weeks of being pursued by Liam, Leanne finally agrees to go out for a drink with him - once she's finished seeing her new client. However, she's in for a big shock when the punter in question turns out to be a familiar face.

After their encounter, Paul feels uneasy around Leanne and warns her they should stay out of each other's way; Liz sets up a secret tryst with Derek; and Ken sets off to meet Daniel - unaware Blanche is following.

Paul finally tells Liam exactly what he thinks of Leanne and urges his brother to get rid of her - but she hits back by threatening to tell Carla what he was up to the night before.

Deirdre is furious to discover Ken spent the night at Denise's and wastes no time in making her feelings clear - but her husband isn't prepared to go down without a fight; Paul's hopes of avoiding Leanne are dashed when Carla invites her to dinner; and Kirk is distraught when he discovers the kennels could be closed after the castration of the wrong dog.

Ken tells Denise about his row with Deirdre and says he will only talk to her once she has calmed down. However, his ex-lover warns that if he doesn't do something about it, she will - setting the scene for a three-way argument in full earshot of everyone in the Rovers. Fiz goes on a trip down memory lane with an old flame; and Kirk is depressed about the fate of the kennels.

Ken moves in with Denise after their public row with Deirdre and says he won't be in touch until she calms down and apologises; and Michelle lets Steve in on a secret after hearing he lost out in his round of golf with Paul.

Steve and Michelle are caught kissing - but Liz isn't too happy about the relationship; and Blanche plays match-maker when Ken collects his things.

Fiz is mortified by John's reaction to their kiss, only to get a bigger surprise from Kirk; Steve has his hopes of a romantic evening dashed; and Deirdre is livid when she finds out about Ken's visit.

Michelle finally gets rid of Ryan and looks forward to another date with Steve, only to discover he has Amy in tow. They're determined to enjoy themselves and all goes well - until the toddler falls ill. Kirk is distraught after being dumped by Fiz; and Claire takes action against the Mortons.

Fire attacks the Peacock home - and as Claire rushes to save Freddie, the force of the flames sends her flying downstairs, knocking her unconscious. Leanne's cover is on the verge of being blown when Dev asks her to find him a Spanish villa; and Steve fiddles the rotas to spend time with Michelle - much to Liz's disgust.

Deirdre swallows her pride and visits Ken to tell him how much he means to her; Liam tries to understand Leanne and Paul's dislike for one another; and Liz visits Derek's secret flat.

Leanne refuses a drink with Liam as she's meeting a client - but soon has a change of heart and quits the job altogether, much to the delight of Janice. Steve and Michelle struggle to get any time alone; and Deirdre is upset that Ken doesn't seem to share her suffering.

Fiz drops a bombshell on John, telling him she left Kirk because her feelings for him weren't as strong as those for him all those years ago; and Michelle decides to grab some time with Steve by visiting him at work with a bottle of wine.

Maria walks in on Fiz and John in the middle of a kiss, so she tells her friend she needs to be honest with Kirk about their new relationship; Leanne continues to enjoy the high life with Carla as they dine at a classy restaurant, which just happens to be up for sale; and Liz drags Deirdre to the The Red Lion to spy on Derek's wife.

An excited Kirk arrives at Fiz's flat with flowers; Derek invites Liz to his brother-in-law's flat for another afternoon of passion, unaware that his wife is on her way round; and Carla tries again to convince Leanne to go into business with her.

The police investigation into the fire takes them to the scene of the crime, where they question Ashley about the time Claire was sectioned. When Claire returns home, she ends up being taken in for questioning; and Leanne goes back to escorting in an attempt to raise her share of the restaurant venue.

Claire becomes increasingly frustrated while being questioned by the police about the fire; Paul is dismayed to learn the identity of Carla's new business partner; and a comment from Vernon makes Liz wonder whether he suspects her affair with Derek.

Leanne and Carla enjoy a celebratory drink after signing the contract for the restaurant - but when they are approached by one of Leanne's clients, who asks if they both work for the same agency, it looks like Leanne's secret might be out. Kirk is too ashamed to admit to Fiz that he's had no luck finding a job; and Tam asks Violet out for a drink.

Carla arranges for Leanne to meet their financial advisor, but when he turns out to be a familiar face, Leanne realises she's been set up and confesses that she has been working as an escort; Violet calls on Jamie to help her out of a tight spot; and Ashley and Claire consider taking a break, but can't think of anyone to look after the shop - until Fiz suggests there's a solution closer to home.

Carla ends her business relationship with Leanne and demands to know whether she slept with Paul; Liz and Derek flirt at a licencees' party, despite being accompanied by their other halves; and Kirk asks Chesney to spy on Fiz.

Paul begs an unforgiving Carla to take him back, and arranges to meet up with Leanne to ask her to talk to his wife; and Liz is put in a tight spot when Linda confesses she thinks Derek is having an affair.

With Leanne locked in the boot of his car, Paul arranges to meet Liam at his flat, where he intends to reveal all about Leanne's work as an escort; and Sarah is furious with David for telling Gail about Jason moving in with them.

Carla and Liam keep a vigil at Paul's bedside following the car crash, while Michelle arrives just as the doctors deliver some bad news; Leanne tries to explain her part in the accident, but Liam cannot forgive her; and Jerry helps Eileen redecorate the Peacocks' house.

Ken decides to visit Deirdre, but is dejected to see her having a night out at the Rovers. When he is also blanked by Daniel, he confides his sorrows in Denise - who moves in for a kiss. Janice sticks up for Leanne when Kelly spreads gossip about her involvement with Paul; Mel wants to know more about her granddad's past; and Eileen agrees to go for a drink with Jerry.

Ken realises he made a mistake by sleeping with Denise, but Deirdre needs convincing to take him back; Steve and Leanne feel left out as the Connors prepare for Paul's funeral in Ireland; Jerry suggests Mel should take her granddad for a drink to get him to reveal more about the past; and Gail remains adamant that David must sit the rest of his exams.

David agrees to sit another exam, but sets fire to his work just as the papers are being collected; and the Peacocks return to the Street - but are still troubled by the fact that they don't know who started the fire.

Bethany's birthday party is ruined when David's teacher arrives to tell Gail about her son's behaviour in the exam; and Fiz tries to tell Kirk about John but backs out at the last minute, leaving him convinced they still have a future together.

Fiz believes Kirk is to blame when her bike is vandalised, but comes to realise that he still doesn't know about her and John; Claire becomes paranoid that she is still being targeted by someone after receiving an anonymous phone call; and Gail is furious with David for showing no remorse over his actions, so decides to find him a job.

Claire becomes paranoid and shouts at a woman in the street who she believes to be Casey - leaving Josh stranded in the middle of the road in the path of an oncoming car. Cilla offers Kirk the benefit of her advice as Fiz discovers who really vandalised her scooter; and Gail asks Jason to befriend David at the builders' yard, but her son plans to make his colleague feel uneasy.

The cab office gets a visit from Eileen's flirtatious telephone pal Pat; Claire's silent caller also pays a visit to the street - and rings her again from a nearby phone box; David learns Jason is afraid of heights, so takes away his ladder while he's on a roof; and Jerry is shocked when the local paper prints an obituary for his father - who is not dead.

The Peacocks find a camera - and one of the photos proves that Claire has been telling the truth about Casey; Bill agrees to take David back; and Leanne prepares to face the world.

The Peacocks hope for a quick result when the police release Casey's photo to the public; and the Connors are back from Ireland, but Leanne soon realises things will never be the same again.

The Peacocks are delighted to hear Casey has handed herself into the police, but not so happy when she is released without charge - especially when she turns up on their doorstep demanding an explanation; Leanne needs a quick way to earn £6,000 now that Carla has pulled out of the restaurant deal; Michelle finds it tough lying to Ryan about Paul; and Liam is struggling to cope with the pain of his brother's death, prompting him to make a hasty decision.

Claire discovers Casey's address and drags Ashley off to confront the woman she believes abducted their son, but her agitated state only serves to spark fresh doubts about her own mental health; Vernon lets slip to Ryan that Leanne was involved in Paul's death, while Leanne herself considers going to a money lender to get the extra cash she needs for the restaurant; and David returns to work at the builders' yard, but doesn't make the greatest of starts when he arrives late.

Claire still isn't convinced of Casey's innocence; Audrey has a proposition for David; and Steve is upset when Michelle plans a trip without him.

When Carla again refuses to invest in the restaurant venture, Leanne vows to raise the cash to open the business herself; and Blanche holds her own wake in the Rovers, but is disappointed by the turnout.

Leanne considers returning to escort work to fund the restaurant after making a deal with the owner, but finds she can't bring herself to do it and turns to Janice for advice; and Blanche is shocked by some of the eulogies at her wake - and is surprised by what Ken has to say.

Janice and Leanne ask Roger for a loan to fund the restaurant, but he discovers that Leanne has been working as an escort and walks out on the pair; Violet confides in Sean about her desperation for a baby, but he's concerned about how she would cope as a single mother; Carla discovers Paul has left her everything, including his share of the factory; and Audrey and Gail are surprised when David's first day working at the salon goes well.

Sean invites Violet for a picnic and shocks her by suggesting that he would like to father her child; Janice and Roger visit the restaurant to check up on his investment - just as Leanne is beginning to panic about taking such a huge financial risk; Eileen is thrilled when Pat finally calls to arrange another date; and Chesney upsets Roy by revealing the cafe has come bottom in the school's green audit.

Violet considers Sean's suggestion for them to have a baby together; Jerry is dismayed when Eileen and Pat call in to the takeaway; and Jack begs Molly to reconsider moving out.

Violet tells Sean she doesn't want to waste any time in trying for a baby; Hayley finds it difficult to cope at Underworld as the workers continue to take advantage of her, and decides to ask for Carla's help; and Jerry tries to hide his feelings after Lloyd catches Pat leaving Eileen's house.

Carla makes her mark at the factory by banning mobile phones; Violet and Sean's attempts at making a baby don't go according to plan; Steve and Lloyd are concerned when Jamie tells them he thinks Pat is married; and Fiz worries Cilla's behaviour will put John off as they go for tea at Hayley's.

Steve and Lloyd launch a surveillance operation to find out whether Pat is married, and their suspicions gain weight when he returns home with a woman; an exhausted Sean struggles to keep up with Violet's demands; Leanne begins an advertising campaign for the restaurant; and Vera has a change of heart about Molly and Tyrone's move - but it seems their plans will be put on hold after Jack injures his back.

Eileen is furious to discover that Pat is already married and attempts to end their relationship; Cilla and Yana try to attract customers back to the chip shop by arranging for the pest-control inspector to visit Jerry's takeaway, leading to an angry confrontation with Jodie; Molly is grateful when Betty and Emily offer to help care for the Duckworths; and Carla infuriates Sally by offering Hayley a promotion.

Liam returns to find Carla in charge of the factory and is furious to discover Paul has left her half of his company; and Eileen tries to find out where she stands with Pat.

Liz returns to Weatherfield and is persuaded by Derek to come up to the flat; Sarah and Jason return from holiday with news for Gail; Sally prepares for her 40th birthday; and Leanne plans the opening of her restaurant.

The grand opening of Leanne's restaurant doesn't go according to plan when the heating proves too powerful and the bar runs out of alcohol; and Sally is furious when Carla considers offering Rosie the PA job at the factory.

After confiding in Betty about her predicament, Liz confesses to Linda that she is the other woman in Derek's life; and Rosie and Sophie are embarrassed as Sally enjoys a wild night out on her 40th birthday.

The Duckworths' grandson Paul Clayton arrives in Weatherfield to help look after his relatives, although Tyrone is suspicious when the newcomer asks for money and flirts with Maria; Carla asks Rosie to compile files on all the factory employees before firing Joanne, claiming the business is over-staffed; Sally and Kevin skive off work and have a day out to reinvigorate their relationship; and Vernon confides in Dev as he plans a surprise for Liz.

Liz is horrified to see Derek chatting with Vernon, and faces a tough decision when he threatens to reveal all about the affair unless she continues seeing him. Claire fails to share Ashley's enthusiasm over Freddie's birthday; and Gail makes a complaint about the volume of Darryl's guitar.

Ashley is horrified when Claire goes missing; Liz grows concerned about Vernon's whereabouts; and Liam confronts Carla over Joanne's sacking.

Vernon snubs Liz's efforts to make amends; Ashley is shocked to find Casey on his doorstep claiming she wants to apologise to Claire; and Liam offers Joanne her old job back.

Tyrone shares his suspicions about Paul with Molly and is upset when Jack chooses to play cards with his grandson instead of him; Carla sacks Joanne again and reminds Liam that, as the major shareholder in the factory, her decision is final; Claire decides to return to Yvonne's, where Casey pays her a visit; and Eileen introduces Pat to Jason and Sarah.

Leanne has a stressful day at the restaurant and feels guilty when Janice reveals Roger has invested all his savings in the venture; Casey helps Ashley by looking after the shop and taking care of Josh, prompting him to invite her for a drink; Joanne threatens Carla and Liam with a tribunal; and Liz is upset to learn Vernon plans to move to Spain.

As Vernon prepares to leave for Spain, Liz begs a second chance and asks if she can go with him. Maria agrees to go for a drink with Liam; Ashley visits Claire and tells her he can't cope by himself; and Jason sees Eileen with Pat.

Casey visits the Street to help Ashley cope in Claire's absence; Leanne doesn't get off to a good start with her chef; Sean persuades Violet to take a pregnancy test; and Liz and Vernon struggle to maintain a united front.

Casey proves a big help to Ashley, so he invites her to stay for dinner; Leanne is annoyed when Paul criticises her food; and Sally resolves to better herself by studying English literature.

Ashley pays Claire a visit but is surprised when Casey opens the door, and panics that she might have told his wife about their kiss; Leanne needs a new chef - and it looks like Paul could be just the man; Violet worries that Jamie has found out about her arrangement with Sean; and Blanche stakes out the Rovers ladies' toilets to discover who's been smoking.

Violet tells Sean the happy news, so they decide to go for an early scan because of her past problems; things are looking up for Leanne as Paul starts work at the restaurant and immediately makes his mark; Claire returns home to Ashley; and John offers to help Sally with her studies.

Sean tells Jamie he's going to be a father but refuses to name the mother - only to give the game away; Eileen is annoyed when her friends put a damper on her relationship with Pat.

Steve reads Pat's text messages, which reveal the truth about the Irish charmer's wife; and Casey persuades Claire to attend a support group - before dropping in on Ashley for another cosy chat.

Claire is feeling more positive after her support group meeting and tells Ashley he should attend the next one with her; and a depressed Steve books himself a cheap holiday to Malta - only for an equally miserable Eileen to invite herself along.

Eileen's holiday with Steve is soured when they end up having to share a room - and a bed. However, things soon look up for Eileen when holiday rep Aidan takes a shine to her; Casey continues to come between the Peacocks; and Leanne and Paul enjoy their most successful lunchtime so far.

Steve is confused when he wakes up to find Eileen asleep next to him, especially as his companion says she can't remember what went on the night before. However, he perks up later when he meets sexy holiday-maker Shania - unaware she isn't all she seems. Back on the cobbles, the Peacocks realise the locals still suspect Claire of starting the fire; Sarah backs Jason into a corner regarding their wedding; and Sophie dresses to impress Sally's tutor John.

Steve is relieved when Eileen decides to keep last night's close shave to herself, and the pair vow they'll always be there for each other; Janice is forced to make a decision; and at the Platts', Gail and Sarah prepare for the vicar's visit.

Steve arrives home with Eileen and tries to convince Liz he is over Michelle, but his feelings are put to the test when she returns to the Street; and DI Parks questions the witnesses to the fire again.

Michelle and Steve have a heart to heart, and it's not long before their true feelings come to the fore; Cilla considers a new career; and Norris decides to go to Angela's funeral.

Casey keeps tabs on the Peacock household, then arranges to meet Claire - who confides she thinks the police believe she is the arsonist; Michelle tells Ryan about her relationship with Steve; and Norris attends Angela's funeral, which ends as the other ex-husbands revel in raucous shenanigans in the Rovers.

Casey seizes the opportunity to increase Claire's paranoia and offers her drastic advice - which she unwittingly takes to heart; Carla decides it's time to move out of Michelle's flat; Eileen accidentally lets slip about Shania; and Norris remains tight-lipped about his new friends.

When Claire fears she's getting ill again, Casey suggest she should go and stay with her mother for a while; and Tyrone leaves for Spain after learning his mother has been arrested.

After telling Carla and Liam how in love she is, Michelle finds some of Steve's holiday snaps and is furious to see one of him with Shania; and Casey continues to manipulate Claire by taking Josh on a trip to the museum.

Steve struggles to make peace with Michelle as Lloyd's meddling fails to help his cause; Carla offers Rosie a full-time job at the factory; and David's drink with Mel ends in disaster.

After the locals discover that Casey has spent another night at the Peacocks' house, Kevin questions Ashley about what's been going on. Sarah is shocked to learn of David's whereabouts the previous night; Michelle forgives Steve for what went on in Malta; and Carla gloats to Sally about Rosie accepting a full-time job.

Audrey urges Ashley to think twice about his relationship with Casey and he agrees to slow things down. As Steve begins to feel smug about winning back Michelle, Eileen decides to have more fun with the holiday photos. Sally tries to persuade Rosie to change her mind about taking a full-time job at the factory; and David vetoes Bill's idea to extend the Platt house.

David learns that Sarah’s interference is the reason Mel failed to show up for their date; Cilla begins work at the care home and starts flirting with one of the OAPs when she realises he comes from a well-off background; and Jack entrusts Paul with the task of buying a present for Vera.

Paul's reaction intrigues Leanne when he seems strangely calm after she confides in him about the restaurant's financial state; Michelle asks Steve to come on a trip to see her relatives in Ireland; and David spreads lies about why he and Mel are no longer an item.

David is furious when he is forced to apologise to Mel; Leanne laughs off Paul's suggestion that he could invest in the restaurant; and Frank offers Cilla a job as his private carer.

Jack and Vera celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and Molly takes care to ensure that their party at the Rovers goes without a hitch; Gail is annoyed with David when he claims to have not bothered picking up his exam result; and Eileen and Jerry enjoy their first date.

Paul steals the deeds from the Duckworth's house and proceeds to apply for a loan in his grandfather's name; Jerry finds himself drawn even closer to Eileen as she helps out Mel when the girl is harassed by two lads at the takeaway; and Casey tells Ashley that she plans to move away from Weatherfield.

Jerry arranges a romantic evening with Eileen in Darryl's shed to get some privacy, but Gail is disgusted to see the couple together. Audrey tries to persuade Claire to return to the Street; Ashley makes a decision about Casey; and Paul convinces Leanne to spend more money on the restaurant rather than paying back her debt to Roger.

Casey spends the night with Ashley, but Claire returns home unexpectedly the next day; and Frank finds it hard to take his eyes off Cilla as she becomes his carer.

Casey is furious when Ashley tells her to stay away from his family while he repairs his relationship with Claire; Roy persuades a nervous Hayley to attend her aunt's funeral; and Rita, Doreen and Emily are baffled by Norris's strange behaviour.

Hayley faces hostility from her family when she attends her aunt's funeral, and the discovery of a letter addressed to her leaves her in a state of shock; Claire moves back in with Ashley, although Casey refuses to leave the couple alone; and Betty is intrigued by what Norris says to his friends.

Hayley confides in Becky that she fathered a son before her sex-change operation and is worried how Roy will take the news; Emily fears that Norris is going to propose when he invites her for dinner; Ashley takes the day off work to spend some time with Claire, but Casey tries to come between the couple; and Tyrone grows concerned about Paul's influence over the Duckworths.

Casey steps up her harassment of Ashley and Claire; Norris takes Rita out for a meal, where he reveals that he's recently realised he loves her and proposes; David is furious with Gail for showing him up in front of Mel; and Becky attempts to convince Hayley to track down her son.

Casey kidnaps Freddie and takes him to her flat, where she threatens to jump from the balcony unless Ashley agrees to talk to her; and Hayley and Becky meet a detective who could help them track down Hayley's son.

After learning of Ashley's affair, Claire confronts Casey about her actions and tries to talk her out of jumping off the balcony with Freddie; and Jerry is furious when Kayleigh's drunken antics put an end to his date with Eileen.

Claire refuses to talk to Ashley after the incident at Casey's flat and berates Audrey for not telling her what was going on; Gail finds herself in the firing line when David tries out Darryl's air rifle; and Jerry feels guilty about Kayleigh's drinking and cancels a date with Eileen so he can spend time with her.

When Gail tells him to start paying rent, David packs his bags and declares he is leaving home; Sean accompanies Violet to the hospital for a scan, where he finds himself attracted to a sonographer; Ashley fears he's lost Claire for good and is devastated to discover she's planning their future apart; and Liam and Maria agree to go on a date after he returns from his business trip.

Gail is shocked by a visit from the police, who've found a badly beaten David in the city centre and accuse her of the assault; as he and Violet tell the locals that they're having a baby, Sean is especially pleased to hear from sonographer Marcus again; and Ashley's hopes of a reconciliation with Claire are dashed.

Hayley discovers the private detective has tracked down her son and plans to visit him, though Becky warns her to be careful about revealing her identity just yet; and Sean and Violet try not to pay attention to the factory girls' gossip about their having a baby together.

Hayley loses her nerve when she visits her son at the record shop, and decides it is time to confess the truth to Roy; Ashley breaks down in the Rovers after telling Josh that he is splitting up with Claire; and Sally's snobbish instincts come to the fore.

As Roy struggles to come to terms with her deceit, Hayley prepares to meet her son - but the encounter results in her telling more lies. Claire feels the strain of her separation from Ashley and forgives Audrey, but remains adamant that her marriage is over.

Roy can't bear to play along with Hayley's lies and ends up making Christian unwelcome at the cafe; a suspicious Tyrone sets a trap for Paul; Sean celebrates his birthday in style with Marcus; David offers to look after a stash of drugs for Darryl; and Carla lands an unexpected admirer.

When David leaves Bethany unattended, she swallows one of the hidden Ecstasy tablets and starts convulsing. Tyrone apologises to Paul; and Violet seeks solace in the pub when Sean goes out with Trevor again.

David is forced to confess that Bethany swallowed an Ecstasy tablet as the hospital staff fight to save her life; and Jamie tells Violet his seemingly sober mother is getting married next week, and invites her to the wedding.

David is told by the police he will face manslaughter charges if Bethany doesn't pull through; Sally realises she's enjoying her lessons with John for more than purely academic reasons; and Hayley and Roy drift further apart.

Audrey comes to David's aid and pleads with Gail not to give up on her son, who spent the night in Darryl's shed; Roy tells Hayley she must come clean with Christian if she plans to see him again; Sally isn't pleased when John extends the theatre invitation to Kevin and Fiz; and Liam returns to find Carla has struck up a friendship with Tony, and wonders if there's more to it than meets the eye.

Hayley tells Becky that she's decided to tell the truth; Gail is cold towards David when he comes to collect his belongings; and Liz remains tight-lipped about her wedding date when Steve and Michelle return home from Ireland.

When Christian visits the cafe and asks to be taken to his father's grave, Roy begs Hayley to finally reveal her identity to him; and Audrey comes under fire from her family for continuing to support David.

Christian is disgusted to learn that Hayley is his father and violently rejects her, though she blames Roy for forcing her to confess the truth; and Sally's hopes of a sophisticated evening with John are dashed.

As Hayley hides away in the flat, blaming Roy for ruining her relationship with Christian, Becky intervenes and encourages Roy to sort things out; and Jamie and Violet get back from Carol's wedding, where they seem to have grown closer.

Hayley spends the night at Becky's while a devastated Roy struggles to keep his head above water in the cafe; Tyrone's efforts to expose Paul backfire; and Liam's flirty banter with Maria in the Rovers is short-lived after he hears Carla has been drinking there with Tony.

Liam loses his cool when Carla arrives late at the factory and accuses her of sleeping with Tony; Roy and Hayley take a break to sort things out; and Becky confronts Christian in the record shop.

Liam struggles with his feelings for Carla, who warns him not to make a move on her; Sarah refuses to work with David; and Molly backs up Tyrone in his fight with Paul.

Liam and Carla struggle with their feelings for one another as they play a game of one-upmanship with their respective dates Maria and Tony; Jason loses his cool with an apologetic David; and Frank asks Cilla to be his live-in carer.

David feels disheartened after his run-in with Jason, but when he hears Gail is softening towards him he takes her some flowers; Liam can't shrug off his feelings for Carla and is annoyed when Tony bombards her with red roses; and Lloyd asks Jodie out on a date.

Sarah and Jason bar David from their wedding, but he assures his sister there won't be a big day; Violet is forced to work at the pub when Sean fails to turn up, but is rushed to hospital when she starts to feel unwell; Jodie is left in charge of Finlay's party; and Claire returns home to find Ashley asleep on the sofa.

Cilla tells everyone she's in line for a windfall; a guilty Sean promises Violet that his partying days are over; and Jodie warns Jerry not to meddle after he bribes Lloyd to take her out.

Cilla is disappointed to learn the value of her inheritance from Frank; Jerry leaves Jodie holding the fort again; and Carla books a business trip away to escape her emotional turmoil.

Cilla toys with the idea of starting a new life in Las Vegas, but fails to consider Chesney in her plans; Paul is entrusted with Tyrone's duties when the Duckworths head off to Blackpool; Jodie discovers Jerry has gone back on his word; and tired of being treated like a soft touch, Roger takes a firm stance with Leanne.

An irate Fiz discovers Cilla's one-way ticket to Las Vegas and confronts her mum in the Rovers; Molly and Tyrone delay their plans for a flat to keep their eye on Paul; Leanne's debt drives a wedge between Janice and Roger; and Jodie reaches the end of her tether as Kevin and Jerry prepare for their weekend away.

Paul beats a hasty retreat from the restaurant when he sees two heavies waiting at the bar and begs Tyrone for help when they come knocking on his door; Chesney's welfare is on everyone's minds but, at the mention of social services, Fiz says she and Kirk can cope; Todd receives his wedding invitation; and Kevin and Jerry set off for Milan.

Jason can't summon the courage to tell Sarah that Todd will be attending the wedding, but she finds out herself when she bumps into him in the street; Sally's attraction to John is the subject of gossip among the factory girls; and Fiz tells Kirk that Chesney should move in with her.

Sarah refuses to allow David's trouble-making to get to her, but a series of disasters involving her wedding dress leads her to believe her big day is doomed; and Paul borrows more money in Jack's name to help Leanne with the restaurant.

Sarah catches up with Todd and agrees to try to put the past behind them, suggesting he should be Jason's best man - further infuriating David; Fiz grows frustrated by John's interest in the Websters; and Liam confronts Rosie about not passing on Maria's message.

Following her row with Liam, Rosie takes the day off work - and when John calls round to check on her, the pair end up kissing; David feels left out after Gail takes the rest of the family and the Grimshaws out for a meal; and Hayley returns from her trip and tells Becky her plans for filling the void in her life.

A guilty John finds himself being seduced by Rosie when he tries to make amends for their kiss; Sarah is lulled into a false sense of security when David keeps a low profile by hiding in his car; and Roy visits the record shop to talk to Christian.

David sets out to sabotage the builders' yard, deleting messages from the answering machine and loosening some of the bolts on the scaffolding - placing Jason in grave danger; and Maria catches Liam kissing a glamorous stranger outside the factory.

As Jason is rushed to hospital after falling from the scaffolding, David shows no remorse; and Rosie announces that she plans to return to school so she can continue her relationship with John.

After he is released from hospital, Jason tells Gail that he suspects David tampered with the scaffolding and caused the accident; John's tutoring session with Sally gives Rosie another opportunity to get closer to him; and Violet becomes uneasy when Sean asks to know the sex of the baby at her scan.

Gail confronts David about the accident and orders him to stay away from the family; Sean goes behind Violet's back by tricking Marcus into revealing the sex of the baby; and Jodie has to cut short her date with Lloyd after Kayleigh misbehaves for Eileen.

Feeling left out of the wedding, David tells Darryl that he believes Gail wishes she'd never had him, while Sarah becomes convinced something nasty is going to happen on her big day; and Jamie is put in an uncomfortable position when Sean reveals he knows the sex of Violet's baby.

After learning that Martin won't be coming to the wedding to sort things out, David writes a suicide note that Sarah later finds; and Jamie and Liam struggle to cope with having a puppy around the house.

Sarah confides in Maria about David's suicide note, but they decide it's another wind-up and ignore it; Liam bonds with the puppy; and Liz mistakenly thinks Vernon is making big plans for her 50th birthday.

It's the day of Sarah and Jason's wedding and despite the Platts' fears for David, they decide to go through with the ceremony anyway. Furious at their betrayal, David phones Gail to say a final farewell before driving his car into the canal. As the happy couple prepare to take their vows, the police arrive at the church with some devastating news that could ruin the big day.

Sarah is furious with David for ruining her wedding day and can't believe that Jason feels sorry for him; Liz is disappointed when her 50th birthday party is a wash-out, though Vernon cheers her up with a surprise gift; and Sally mistakes the affection John is showing for Rosie as being aimed at her, causing more upset for Kevin.

Sarah and Jason's first days of marriage are beset by bickering as the attention lavished on David drives a wedge between them; and Maria is disappointed when Liam reveals he is going to Ireland without her.

Sally reveals her feelings to John; and David ruins Sarah's plans to have belated wedding photos taken.

Michelle and Ryan move into the Rovers; Sarah's wedding dress goes up in flames; and sparks fly between Jamie and Violet at the bonfire party.

Violet grows concerned by Sean's attentiveness over her bump and reaches the end of her tether when she learns he has told all and sundry the sex of her unborn baby; a heartbroken Sarah is at her wits' end when David prepares to return to the salon; and Jodie can't forgive Jerry for pinning the blame for Finlay's accident on her.

Violet vents her anger at Marcus, threatening to report him to the hospital, then turns on Sean and reminds him he is only a donor and not a father; Fiz is delighted when John agrees to move in with her; Leanne takes Sarah on as a part-time waitress; and a dejected Jodie is dumped by Lloyd.

Furious with Jerry for meddling in her relationship with Lloyd, Jodie decides to leave the street. Liz and Steve come into conflict over who should move out of the Rovers; and Carla agrees to consider Tony's business proposition.

Rosie returns to school and does her best to make John feel uncomfortable; Jerry struggles to cope without Jodie; and Sean realises he's not happy with Violet's decision about having the baby christened.

Fiz prepares a meal for John but is furious to see him return home with Sally and Rosie; and David plans his next move when he realises Sarah and Jason have rekindled their love on a romantic date.

Jamie and Violet decide to give their relationship another chance and bring up the child together, while over in the pub Sean tells Marcus he wants to be a father to the baby; Rosie's flirtatious banter in the classroom leaves John feeling flustered; and Lloyd encourages Claire to join him at a singles' night.

A devastated Sean flees from the pub when he learns of Violet and Jamie's reconciliation and their plans to bring up the baby together; and Claire makes a fool of herself after getting drunk at the singles night and later admits to Ashley that she still loves him.

After a sleepless night, Sean decides Jamie has no right to be the father to Violet's baby, and considers taking legal action to formalise access to the child. Claire tells Ashley to collect his things from Audrey's and is touched when he later presents her with a gold necklace.

An exasperated Fiz comes to blows with Sally after misreading her relationship with John; and Sean's insistence on involving lawyers in his quest for parental rights drives Violet and Jamie to look for their own place.

Fiz joins forces with Kevin to get to the bottom of what's going on between Sally and John, while Rosie threatens to end her affair when her lover's jealousy gets the better of him.

Sarah begins to question Jason's fidelity when a scheming David infers her husband is secretly seeing Becky. Fiz thinks she's confirmed her suspicions about John and Sally as she tries to keep tabs on them; and Kayleigh accuses Jerry of neglect when he discovers she has been going clubbing for months.

David gets hold of Jason's mobile phone and spots another chance to stir things up; Fiz keeps tabs on John, who arranges to meet up at Rosie's when Sally goes Christmas shopping; Sean stubbornly refuses to make peace with Violet; and Jack and Vera consider leaving Weatherfield for Blackpool.

Fiz and Kevin trail their respective other halves in a bid to catch them out; David rouses Becky's interest when he subtly informs her that Sarah and Jason's relationship is rocky; and Marcus engineers a truce between Sean and Violet, who agree to make things work for the sake of the baby.

Carla is confronted by a woman who claims to be Tony's wife, who warns her to stay away from him; Rosie takes advantage of her hold over John; and Sean goes to great lengths to stay in Violet's good books.

Sean's offer leaves Violet and Jamie at odds with each other; a new arrival on the Street keeps the men enthralled with tales of party lifestyle in Ibiza; and Maria struggles to find the right moment to tell a distracted Liam about her pregnancy.

Maria arranges to meet Liam to tell him about her pregnancy, fearful it will mean the end of their relationship; Steve receives a phone call from his dad, telling him he is going to be released from prison the next day; and Lauren promises not to tell Jamie when she finds out about Sean's loan.

Steve makes his way to the prison to collect his dad, who declares his hell-raising days are over; Liam is less than happy about Carla's personal life and resolves to discover more about Tony; and John has some explaining to do when he marks Rosie's essay too leniently.

Liz fears her big day will be ruined when she learns Jim has been released from prison; Maria tells Liam she is going to have an abortion; and Norris has surprising news for Doreen.

Liam continues stalking Tony and reports his findings to Carla, whose reaction prompts him to march out of the factory and propose to Maria; and new father-and-son bookies Harry and Dan Mason arrive on the Street.

Carla tries to mask her emotions when she learns about Liam's engagement; David steals Becky's phone to send flirtatious texts to an amused Jason; and the new bookies stir up trouble for Steve.

David steals Jason's phone and gives it to Sarah, saying he found it in the street, before sending messages to it from Becky's handset; and Paul fears the loan he took out on his grandparents' house will be discovered when Jack and Vera announce they are selling up and moving to Blackpool.

David sends another provocative text message , but his luck runs out when Jason calls Becky's phone and Sarah hears it ringing in her brother's pocket; Ryan tells Michelle he thinks he's being followed; and the bookies clamp Lloyd's car.

Michelle is frantic with worry when a panic-stricken Ryan reveals the stalker stopped his car and approached him; Gail suggests Sarah and Jason move out to avoid any more upset with David; and Paul confesses to Jack that he's taken out a loan in his name.

Liam discovers the identity of Ryan's stalker as he waits to collect the youngster from school; Sarah makes Gail feel guilty; and Steve offers his dad a job.

Michelle faces a barrage of questions about the stalker's allegations; a family meal gives David the chance to get Stephen on his side; and Jack lies to Vera.

Liz believes Jim has turned over a new leaf and offers to clear the air for Steve and Amy's sake; Michelle denies accusations that she had a fling behind Dean's back; and Sarah sees David wheedle his way into Stephen's good books.

David snaps up Stephen's offer of a job in Milan, leaving Sarah furious her brother has upstaged her once again; Liz softens towards Jim, but Vernon becomes paranoid about the jailbird's return; and Rosie makes a play for John when he goes for a lesson with Sally.

An irate Sarah resolves to put an end to David's Italian dream; Dan takes a shine to Mel's friend from the police force; and Rosie grows frustrated by her snatched moments with John.

Michelle decides to confront Ryan's stalker but is shocked by what she finds; a gloating David mocks Sarah's earlier threat to him; and Tony makes a bold move as he tries to win over Carla.

Ryan's stalker reveals some startling information to Michelle about her son; David is unnerved by Sarah's sudden change of heart; and Dan takes Abi back to his flat.

Sarah procures some Ecstasy and continues playing happy families as she steps up her plan to shatter David's dream; Nick tracks down Michelle at the Rovers and asks her to take a DNA test; Vernon finds Jim's shared past with Liz preying on his mind; and Rosie begins to lose patience with John when he ignores her texts and calls.

Sarah plants the Ecstasy tablets in David's drawer at the salon, where they are subsequently discovered by Audrey; Liam is furious to find Tony has laid on a Christmas do at the factory, and even more annoyed to see him canoodling with Carla; and Rosie blackmails John into booking a night away together.

Still reeling from the shock of discovering Ryan may not be her son, Michelle breaks down in Steve's arms; and Maria is horrified by a callous remark made by Carla at Liz's hen night.

Rosie tells John she wants a proper relationship and threatens to expose their affair if he doesn't leave Fiz; Michelle faces up to her fears about Ryan; and Sarah tries to steal David's new life for herself.

John makes a half-hearted attempt to end things with Fiz; and Stephen offers Jason the job he had earmarked for David in Milan.

John's philandering ways are exposed when he mixes up Rosie's and Fiz's gifts. An explosive encounter ensues in which Kevin knocks the unfaithful teacher to the ground and is arrested by the police. Michelle tries to play happy families for Ryan's sake; Roy faces the festive season without Hayley; and Jason agrees to make the move to Milan with an ecstatic Sarah.

Rosie shows no remorse for her actions as John's life is left in tatters and he prepares to leave; and Sarah picks the right moment to tell her family about the move to Milan - leaving David infuriated.

As Sarah celebrates her new life with a farewell party in the pub, David adds fuel to Jason's fears about the move; Kevin prepares for his court appearance; and Maria offers Fiz a shoulder to cry on.

A horrified Jason turns his back on Sarah at the airport when she admits she planted the drugs on David; and Jim wheedles his way into Liz's affections on the eve of her wedding.

As the wedding day dawns, Liz confides in Deirdre that she can't go through with it; and Rosie begins to realise the havoc she has caused.

A bloodied Vernon hobbles down the aisle beside his dishevelled bride; and when the countdown to the New Year begins, Liam and Maria plan a romantic mini-break and Becky kisses Jason.
