From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman II

A few months into his appointment as the Liberion Order's special instructor, Beryl Gardenant is settling into his new life in the capital. One day, he's visited by Lucy and Ficelle, who ask him to become a temporary instructor at the Magic Institute. Beryl joins the sword magic course where Mewi is enrolled, witnesses Ficelle's teaching methods, and finds himself facing off against her...

Beryl wrestles with teaching Ficelle - who is a terrible teacher - how to actually teach. Mewi struggles to fit in with her fellow students, but a conversation with Cindy at lunch hints at that beginning to change. At a small party, Beryl views both Mewi and Ficelle's growth with satisfaction. And then an unexpected disturbance rocks the Magic Institute.

Wolf-shaped shadows attack the teachers and magic is rendered useless on campus. Able to fight even without magic, Beryl and Ficelle force their way into the school in an effort to uncover the cause of the strange happenings. When shadow wolves appear in the cafeteria, Mewi and her classmates decide to confront them, despite their inexperience. Two battles unfold - so how will they end?

A letter addressed to Beryl arrives from Beaden. Sent by his father Mordea, it urges him to return to the village for an annual event unique to the village. With the Magic Institute on summer break, Beryl invites Mewi to accompany him and Henblitz. Then Curuni invites herself along. It's the first time Beryl's been home since his move to the city. The next day, an unexpected confrontation occurs.

Their mission to take down the saberboar begins. Curuni achieves her long-cherished goal of taking one down and realizes how much stronger she has become. Randrid makes full use of the skills he honed as an adventurer and puts his swordsmanship to good use. Impressed, Henblitz challenges him to a sparring match - which ignites something in the hearts of both Beryl and another swordsman.

With the saberboar threat eliminated, Beaden holds its annual festival. The friendship between Henblitz and Randrid grows, while Adel and Edel fuss over Mewi. Beryl watches it all and reflects on his own feelings over the years. Then Mordea arrives and the two head for the dojo. Can Beryl overcome the giant wall that is his father?

A banquet is being held in the lands of the Margrave of Flumvelk, a region bordering Sphenedyardvania, and both Allucia and Beryl have been invited. The visit is also a chance to confirm the route the soon-to-be-wed Princess Salacia will take to her new home. Along the way, Beryl gives advice to a young knight. When he arrives at his destination, an unexpected reunion awaits him.

Shueste, the sister of Beryl's former student Warren, relentlessly pursues Beryl - but for a good reason. Seeing this upsets Allucia, Warren explains both his and Shueste's motives, and encourages Allucia to make her own move. Beryl's actions at the banquet leave Shueste even more smitten. Having finished their assignment, Beryl and Allucia head home - but face an unforseen encounter on the way.

Back in the capital, Beryl struggles to shake his guilt over Vesper's grave injuries, while Surena tries to cheer him up. The day of Princess Salacia's wedding draws near, and Beryl joins the escort detail. After a short reunion with Shueste and with the threat of an attack by the Verdapis Mercenary Company looming, they reach Dilmahakha, the holy city of Sphenedyardvania. But who is watching him?

Allucia and Gatoga visit Beryl at his lodgings in Dilmahakha, and Gatoga shows Beryl around the city. Once they're alone, Gatoga tells him what became of Rose. Back in Baltrain, Curuni and Ficelle put Mewi through special training, while Lucy and Ibroy meet in secret. The new year arrives, bringing Princess Salacia's wedding - and screams of terror ring out through the cathedral.

The Verdapis Mercenary Company bursts into the cathedral. Beryl moves to stop them, but Ibroy yells, "They're on our side!" Forced into an uneasy alliance, Beryl and the others escort the prince and princess safely to the palace. Along the way, Beryl's rage clashes with Hanoy's pride as a mercenary. But an even greater crisis engulfs the Holy City - caused by none other than Pope Morris himself.

The masked White Maiden is revealed to be none other than Beryl's former student, Rose. Beryl and the White Maiden meet up with Allucia and Surena, who have successfully taken down the Chimera, and they head to back up the Verdapis Mercenary Company. There, they find Hanoy on the brink of defeat - and Pope Morris standing calmly before him. The final battle is about to begin.
