Sultan Mehmed, poised to march on Rome after expanding his empire from Constantinople to the Balkans, is suddenly confronted by a deadly Papal plot on the Ottoman–Aq Qoyunlu frontier that entangles his sons Bayezid and Mustafa; as the princes are drawn into a trap along the Karasu River, rising tensions threaten to ignite a war between two great states, forcing Mehmed and Uzun Hasan to choose between ambition, anger, and statecraft while the true events at Karasu—and their bloody consequences—hang in the balance.

Mehmed’s march on Rome is shaken when the Karasu bloodshed sparks a crisis with the Ak Koyunlu, forcing him to balance protecting Şehzade Mustafa with defending Ottoman territory while hidden conspirators and Papal agents work to ignite war, leaving Fatih racing to uncover the plot before he’s compelled to turn his sword east instead of toward Rome.
