Season 5

During his daily inspection round through the factory, Pickle King Oos once again faces his fair share of challenges. Unfortunately, another machine has broken down. Princes Silvian and Camiel must master all facets of the work, which includes driving trucks. Both are currently preparing to obtain their heavy vehicle licenses. Meanwhile, Frans, the experienced senior member of the company, is fortunately recovering well from his colon cancer.

‘The Pickle King’ is celebrating his birthday in grand style, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. The move towards modernization isn’t limited to the executive team; the entire company is undergoing a transformation. While the familiar atmosphere remains, notepads, answering machines, and other outdated technologies are disappearing for good—or at least, that is the ambition driving this renewal effort.

The pickle plant is currently undergoing a major overhaul: the flooring is being completely replaced, and the vinegar system is being extensively modernized. Despite this work, production continues unabated. We are also introducing some new team members. Frans, an experienced and exacting professional, is being joined by newcomer Daniël, who is beginning his training as a maintenance technician under the guidance of the expert and seasoned Richard.

Before the gherkin harvest begins in a few weeks, they are first preparing a stock of ginger tea. Oos likes order, even though his office suggests otherwise. And fortunately, there is something else on the agenda, too! The "Gherkin King" considers everyone's health a priority and is having the entire crew undergo a medical check-up. Meanwhile, the havoc wreaked by night frost on the German gherkin crop is giving him sleepless nights.
