In the West Midlands Inspector Herchy Boal receives an anonymous call about a labradoodle who is reportedly underweight with infected ears and dirty matted fur. It is up to Herchy to get to the bottom of this reported neglect.

In Essex, cameras follow animal collection officer Joe White, who is on his way to pick up a dog that has been left abandoned and tethered to the edge of a bridge.

Inspector Charlotte Melvin is left reeling from the shock of what she finds when she investigates a complaint about a house full of animals, some in cages and living in cramped and dirty conditions. She calls in police to help her gain access to the property.
