Season 7

It is 1946, and with the war finally over, a new vet in town threatens the status quo. James is stumped over a cat's mystery illness, while Helen embraces the future over tradition. As Jimmy prepares to start school, everyone pitches in to help.

Helen hopes Heston's new Friesian cows will boost milk yields, but Richard remains unconvinced. Siegfried's modernisation plans upset the traditionalist Hollins family when their sow needs help, while his Dorothy-inspired good mood amuses Tristan. At the Women's Institute, Mrs Hall, Mrs Pumphrey and Maggie consider ways to support their community.

Skeldale is a whirlwind of activity as Siegfried tries to compete with Granville Bennett, but can James cope with his new system? Charlotte requests Tristan's veterinary help with some wild cats that she's become fond of at Beauvoir Manor. When he brings the felines back to the surgery to treat them, Siegfried wonders if Tristan needs romantic advice.

Skeldale buzzes as Helen and the children prepare birthday cards for Mrs Hall, while Dorothy plans a surprise after Edward cancels his visit. Tristan investigates a mysterious dog, and James and Siegfried risk an unfamiliar operation to save Bella and her calf. Elsewhere, Mrs Pumphrey helps Mrs Hall tackle an interloper.
