Burak Kaplan

Biography

Burak Kaplan is an award-winning film producer, academic, and film scholar. Following a bachelor’s degree in business administration, he completed his MA in Cinema-TV at Istanbul Bilgi University and his PhD in Cinema at Beykent University. While continuing his academic tenure at Istanbul Okan University's Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture since 2012 alongside his film criticism and media work, he has built an active producing career in independent cinema. The short film The Tamed (2023), which he co-produced, won "Best Film" honors at both the 24th Izmir International Short Film Festival and the 20th Akbank Short Film Festival. His debut feature as a producer, Unfruitful Times (2024), competed in prestigious festivals including the Adana Golden Boll, Ankara, and Istanbul Film Festivals, garnering 15 awards across national and international circuits.
